Once upon a time ...

EIS defeated the Moose 8-2 at Snow School in one semi-final and Raymond Engineering defeated NAPA 6-1in the other. For EIS the offense was led by two hits each from Mark Levin and Wayne Patenaude. Charley Mucle and Delaney had the only hits for Moose. Patenaude and Whitehead pitched for EIS. Raymond Engineering used the pitching of Dean Pegolo for their win. He pitched a four hitter. Chris Colavito had two hits for Raymond.

EIS won the championship at Snow with a 6-1 victory over Raymond Engineering.. Scott Peters had three hits and Mark Levin and Al Cummings each had two to lead EIS. Pegolo,Mark Baker and Mark Martin had the Raymond's hits. Whitehead, Patenaude and Peters pitched for EIS. Mark Baker went the distance for Raymond.

District Nine Tournament
The Westfield All Stars scored three times in the top of the eight inning to defeat the Spencer All Stars 5-3. Mark Baker and Kenny Sarpu each had two hits for Westfield. Mike Emard had a double in the eight. John Kelly had two of the three Spencer hits. Brian Hunter was the losing pitcher. He struck out 12 but walked nine.

Bob Waldner hurled a two hitter to lead the Moose All Stars to a 21-1 rout of East Haddam-Moodus. Joe Marino had two homeruns and Charles Muckle hit one. Moodus pitching gave up nine walks and their defense committed ten errors.

The Pat Kidney All Stars used the four hit pitching of Bobby Kosicki to edge Guilford 2-1. Kosicki struck out four and walked one. Reggie Moody had two hits.

Babe Whitehead threw a no hitter against Madison as the Bernie O'Rourke All Stars won 7-0. Whitehead struck out 16 and walked two. Marc Levin had a perfect four for four evening.

John Tuttle pitched a five hitter for Bernie O'Rourke and they beat the Westfield All Stars 8-1. Willie Pennington had a grand slam home run in the third inning.

Haddam Killingworth defeated the Moose All Stars 9-4 at Hubbard Park. Moose scored two in the first but quickly fell behind as Haddam Killingworth had eight of their ten hits in the first three innings. Bobby Waldner had two hits for Moose H-K was led by Carr with three hits and two each from Zak and Scott Emigh who homered.

Cromwell teed off against five Pat Kidney pitchers, scoring 12 runs in the first inning to wipe out Pat Kidney 20-3. Reggie Moody, Campisi and Hyman each had two hits for Pat Kidney.

Cromwell defeated Bernie O'Rourke 5-3 in one of the District Nine semi final games. O'Rourke scored three in the first without a hit. In fact O'Rourke only was able to produce two hits in the game. Both hits were by Manemeit.

Middlefield captured the District 9 championship with a 4-0 victory over Cromwell at Peckham Field. Frank Pietkowski pitched a one hitter and had ten strike outs for the win. Paul Reiman had an infield single. Dennis Prue had a two run homer in the fourth off of Cromwell's John Aletta. George Roth had two hits for the winners.

In the state tournament game Plainfield used an eight run fourth inning to defeat Middlefield 8-6. Gibby Ryan hit a grandslam in the top of the first to give Middlefield an early lead. Ryan had five RBis. Steve St. Jean had a three run homer in the fourth for Plainfield. Ryan, Moskey and Frank Pietkowski all pitched in the fourth for Middlefield.
