Rotary edged Moose 3-2 in the City Championship game at Lawrence School. Dennis Wade bested Avery Askew. Jimmy Footit accounted for the Moose scoring with a two run homer.
Dictrict Nine Tournament
In District Nine action, Ricky Murray hurled a five hitter and Pat Kidney beat Cromwell 10-3. Fred Dowling had a three run homer. Jimmy Sena and Tom Hale each had two hits for Pat Kidney.

Avery Askew, Sal Morello, and Scott McGrath each homered. Morello and Askew each had two hits.

Jim Waldner pitched an eight hitter as the O'Rourke hurler. The O'Rourke hits were from Waldner, Danny Furst, Jeff Gilbert, and Steve Chester.

Jim Footit pitched a four hitter, walked four and struck out eight. Avery Askew homered for Moose. Askew, Larry Lindbom, Darryl James, and Jeff Hilton each had two hits.

The semifinal games featured Pat Kidney playing CDE in Essex and Guilford at Moose.
Guilford led Moose 5-3 after five innings. They then scored six times in the sixth to defeat the Moose All Stars 11-3. Avery Askew was the losing pitcher. Ernie Thigpen and Avery Askew hit Moose homeruns.
Ricky Murray bested Gary Beason as Pat Kidney got by CDE 7-6 in Essex. Murray gave up eight hits, struck out eight and walked two. Beason gave up seven hits, struck out four and walked two. Jimmy Sena and Gary Krol had two hits each for Pat Kidney. Bobby Dorflinger homered for Pat Kidney.

Jamie Felix batted and pitched his team to victory. He had a double and a two run homer. He pitched a one hitter. Felix struck out eight and walked seven. Brian Wendry had a double for Pat Kidney which drove in Dorflinger with the Pat Kidney run in the first. Dorflinger and Hale pitched for Pat Kidney.

The Los Angels Rams use a third round draft pick to select Phillip Murphy, DT, North Carolina State. Murphy played several years in Middletown Little League and was a member of the City Champion 1969 Kiwanis and the 1970 Moose All Star Team.
