Once upon a time ...

Met Life used the four hit pitching of Danny Knapp to win 12-4 over Iions. Andy Lofreddo and Anthony Knapp each had two hits for met Life.

Ben Boutaugh pitched Rotary to a 9-7 win over DeRita's. Marcus Mickens and Kenny Perry each had two doubles for Rotary. Robbie Pancoast went four for four for DeRita's.

Westfield Fire used the two hit pitching of Billy McKenna to stop Rotary 11-4. Greg Blackington and Wayne Wooley hit WFD homers.

Old Mill rallied for four runs in the sixth to defeat met Life 6-3 at Moody. Mike Rulnick, Mike LaPlante, and Ron Pickard drove in those runs. Kevin Cahill was the winning pitcher. Anthony Knapp pitched for Met Life. Matt Lewis had three hits for Met Life.

Kiwanis edged Exchange 7-5 to reach the finals.

Old Mill reached the finals with a 14-7 victory over WFD. Steve Scandura and Mike LaPlante each had three hits for Old Mill. WFD had three hits from both Tim Lombardo and Ricky Dawson. Bill McKenna had two hits including a homer.

Kiwanis became city champions with a 15-13 triumph over Old Mill at Snow School. Kiwanis had three hits from John Bartell and Glen DeFrance. Greg Scott was winning pitcher with 11 strikeouts. Scott went four for four. Scott and Bartell homered. Old Mill led hy Steve Scandura 3 hits and Mike Rulnick and Kevin Cahill each had two hits.

Dictrict Nine Tournament
Larry Lindbom's clutch relief pitching lifted the Moose All Stars over Middlefield 12-10 at Hubbard Park. James Manzie and Larry Lindbom led the Moose attack with two hits apiece.

East Hampton used four home runs and the 14 strikeout pitching performance of Scott Pawlich to defeat the Bernie O'Rourke All Stars 12-4 in East Hampton. Jon Lambert hit two home runs for East Hampton. His teammates Pawlich and Dave Fleury each homered.

The Pat Kidney All Stars crossed the river to face the East Haddam-Moodus All Stars and came home with a 7-2 win. Trailing 2-1 after four innings, Pat Kidney erupted for five runs in the top of the fifth to secure their road win. The big hit was a three run clout by Steve Scandura. Ronnie Pickard pitched a nifty four hitter for the win.

Moose defeated Pat Kidney 10-4 to move on to the semifinal round. J.P. LaCombe,and Tim Flynn each had three Pat Kidney hits, Sal Morello,John Coughlin, and James Manzie each added two safeties. Greg Scott and Sal Morello pitched for Moose. Billy Gorman charged with the loss.

Moose used a bases loaded double by Greg Scott in the second inning to help defeat Guilford 11-4 in Guilford. Jim Imme had two hits.

East Hampton claimed the District Nine championship with a 6-2 win over the Moose All Stars at Hubbard Park. Moose was held to four hits by Brian Riley. Larry Lindbom and Sean McGrath had doubles for Moose. Greg Scott was losing pitcher and he had relief help from Sal Morello and Jim Imme. For East Hampton Craig Hyland had three hits. Jim Dumont had two hits. Jim Brown homered.

East Lyme defeated East Hampton 6-4 in East Hampton in a state tournament game. Mike Sicart 3 run homer in the bottom of the sixth with two outs won the game for East Lyme. Pete Walker hit a three run homer in the fifth for East Lyme. In the top of the sixth Brian Riley had a three run clout for East Hampton.
