Once upon a time ...

In the opening round EIS defeated the Kiwanis 5-3. Kwesi Rollins pitched a two hit, 15 strikeout performance.

EIS secured the city championship with an 8-2 victory over Rotary at Hubbard Park. The winners had a 14 hit attack. Som Oumsou pitched a three hitter for EIS. Kwesi K Rollins, Denny Cherry, and Chris Knight each had two hits for EIS. Joey Lisitano was the Rotary pitcher. The Rotary hits cam from McCaw, Townsend, and Cameron. Mertz Esterbrook was EIS manager while Jeff Herdman and Bill Hancock piloted Rotary.

Ahern Whalen Senior League All-Stars, managed by Ed Wilcox, win the State Championship.

The Trumbull National All Stars, CT State Champions win the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. They defeat Davenport, Iowa (2-0), San Pedro, CA (6-3) and in an emotional final game, Chinese Taipei (5-2). The Far East had won 17 of the 19 previous LL World Series, most of those by Chinese Taipei teams. The Trumbull team become national celebrities after the win and are feted everywhere from Yankee Stadium to the White House.
