On Sunday they played their first game at 10:45 AM against an all-star HS team made up of players from different schools. Kelly Feodorov was the starting pitcher and threw a 2 hit shutout and recorded 13 strikeouts and no walks. The Young Guns won the game 1-0. Their only run came in the second inning when Kahley Fickett opened the inning with a sharp single to left, Kyra Poudrier then sacrificed her to second and Katherine Mosca singled her home for the game winner. | |

In game two the Young Guns faced West Haven HS. Feodorov was the starting pitcher again and threw a 4 hitter with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk. The Young Guns won the game 3-2 in 9 innings. The Young Guns scored their first run in the first when Feodorov opened the inning with a single, moved to second on a walk to Alyssa Castagna, was sacrificed to third by Mal Dorflinger and scored on a wild pitch. The Guns were held scoreless the rest of the game and after regulation the game was tied 1-1. In the top of the eighth West Haven pushed across a run under the international tiebreaker. In the bottom of the eighth the Guns tied the game. Kahley Fickett started the inning on second base, she was sacrificed to third by Poudrier and scored on a single by Mosca and the game was tied up again. In the top of the ninth West Haven attempted to bunt their runner to third but a great fielding play by Feodorov cut down the runner and West Haven was unable to score. In the bottom of the ninth the Young Guns won the game. Brooke Franco started the inning on second base, she was sacrificed to third by Michelle Brown, intentional walks to Chelsea Pantano and Cassie Pieper loaded the bases with one out. After a strike out, Feodorov came to the plate and delivered a blast over the left fielders head for the game winner. | ![]() |

As good as those two games were the Championship was even better. The Young Guns faced Guilford HS and as they entered the bottom of the 7th they trailed 5-2. The inning began with Michelle Brown lining out to shortstop, Feodorov then lined a hard single to left and when the ball scooted past the left fielder Feodorov was on second. Castagna then lined a two-strike pitch to center and Feodorov moved to third. Castagna then stole second and Mal Dorflinger plated both runners with a hard single to left and the score was 5-4. Fickett was the next batter and she smashed her fourth hit of the day into the right center field gap for an RBI double and a tie game. Poudrier was then intentionally walked. Mosca came up and hit an infield single to load the bases. Taylor Bartolotta then hit a hard ground ball to shortstop who came home to force out Fickett at the plate. With two out and the bases loaded Brooke Franco lined the game winning hit to centerfield and the Young Guns celebrated their victory at home plate. Feodorov again was the starting pitcher an earned her third win of the day and the game ball. |

A very special thanks to Amy Carta, Brittney Dorflinger, and Ashley Hunter. All three worked very hard with the girls on Saturday 10/20 in preparation for the Championship Weekend. Also, thank you to Linda Bartolotta, and the Mosca Family for our website photos! |
The Young Guns are a team of young ladies all from Middletown with the purpose
of continuing to develop their softball skills in the fall.
